Staff Photo Contest Winner: Peter Gold
We don’t mean to brag… But, The Camera Store’s staff is made up by some incredible photographers including master photographer Peter Gold who has been a professional photographer for over forty years. We’ve been lucky to have him as our studio specialist for just over a decade.
Gold is primarily known for his portrait work and has photographed high profile people from musicians to politicians across Canada. To this day, he continues to photograph portraits in his personal studio in Bragg Creek, Alberta with his right-hand business partner, and wife Gail. Although portraits have been Gold’s focus for most of his career, his landscape photographs have a magical quality to them. He recently submitted this photograph to Canon’s dealer staff photo contest, and for a second time in a row, he won 2nd place.
“I captured this image with a Canon 5D Mark III and the Canon 70-300 L IS lens at 244 mm focal length. The exposure was 1/160 sec at f/10 using an ISO 200.
I was south of Calgary on the highway heading west towards the foothills just prior to sunset.
Rain clouds were forming in the west. I stopped the car, set up the tripod, attached the graduated ND filter to the lens and began shooting as the sun began to drop behind the clouds.” – Peter Gold
