An intensive two-day learning experience that will teach you all you need to know to start designing and making custom books with your photographs.
DAY ONE – Creating Content. Learn strategies for editing and selecting from your image collections. Discuss how different book forms can support and enhance the work inside. Learn how to create narrative or flow by varying the arrangement of your photographs. See examples of professional portfolios and photo books, and find out the best way to successfully build your own. Apply the skills you acquire here to hand-making books but also to streamlining your workflow, informing your decisions, and improving the results you achieve when using a printing service such as Pikto or Blurb.
DAY TWO – Making Books. You’ll learn to make accordion books (and many useful variations on this simple but elegant form), Japanese-style stab-bound books, and hard- and soft-cover sewn section books (the traditional western book form). All the materials and tools you need are provided, and the examples are designed to accommodate even absolute beginners.
Whether you are a professional looking to create unique promo pieces or design and build a truly custom portfolio of your work, a wedding photographer wanting to add a bespoke album to the list of services you offer your clients, or a serious amateur hoping to find new, interesting and engaging ways to show your photographs, this workshop will teach you what you need to know.
