Tamron's Newest Ultra-Telephoto Zoom Lens

It’s new, it’s fresh, it’s game-changing. It’s Tamron’s ultra-telephoto zoom, the 50-400mm F/4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD! An unprecedented, next-level ultra-telephoto zoom lens for Sony E-mount full-frame mirrorless cameras, featuring a stunning 8x zoom ratio. The 50-400mm F/4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD provides a wide range of focal lengths that covers the standard 50mm and stretches all the way to 400mm at the ultra-telephoto end, offering an unmatched level of versatility.

With photographic expression unleashed by the 50-400 zoom range, the Tamron 50-400mm F/4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD starts with a wide, 50mm focal length. This focal length gives the lens a beautiful ability to capture full-body shots of subjects with the surrounding environment. The wider end of this unique mirrorless zoom lens is particularly useful for side-line sports, wildlife and other subjects that move closer as you are shooting, allowing you to continue photographing without the need to change lenses. Then, of course, the 50-400mm has exceptionally high resolving power and extraordinary reach, while still being incredibly compact with a length of just 183.4mm (7.2 in) and a light weight of 1,155g (40.7 oz).

When it comes to the construction of the 50-400mm, it was developed in pursuit of Tamron’s high image quality throughout the entire zoom range. The optical construction features 24 elements in 18 groups, including XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion), LD (Low Dispersion) and Hybrid Aspherical lens elements, which thoroughly control aberrations including axial chromatic aberrations. The 50-400mm also features BBAR-G2 (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection Generation 2) Coating that minimizes ghosting and flare and expresses the minute details of subjects even under backlit conditions.

For spectacular results, in a broad variety of situations, the 50-400mm has a precise arrangement of special lens elements effectively delivering uncompromising high image quality throughout the entire 50-400mm zoom range. Equipped with TAMRON’s VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor focus mechanism and proprietary image stabilization mechanism VC (Vibration Compensation), in combination with others make it possible to capture sharp images even when shooting wild birds and fast-moving sports action.

For those who enjoy the world of half-macro photography, the 50-400mm has excellent close-up shooting capabilities. The MOD (Minimum Object Distance) is 0.25m (9.8 in) at the 50mm end, and the maximum magnification ratio is 1:2. Also, users can customize certain functions and update the firmware via the Connector Port by using the dedicated TAMRON Lens Utility™.

There is no doubt that the Tamron 50-400mm F/4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD is a brand-new kind of ultra-telephoto zoom lens. Combining a 50mm standard focal length with Tamron’s legendary image quality, all while keeping the lens as small and portable as possible!
