Tamron Announces New Versatile Fast Zoom: 35-150mm F2.8-4

Tamron has announced a new lens: the 35-150mm f2.8-4 Di VC OSD (Model A043). Designed to be an ultra-versatile single-lens option for “people photographers” in particular, the lens offers a semi-wide angle all the way through portrait and short telephoto focal lengths in a single, compact package.
The lens has been designed with optical performance to satisfy the requirements of even the highest-resolution full frame sensors on the market today. It’s optimized around the 85mm range, which solidifies its designation as a “portrait zoom.” Despite the wide range, it is still only five inches (~125mm) long and weighs less than two pounds.
The lens uses an Optimized Silent Drive (OSD) autofocus motor for quiet, fast, and precise autofocus, even more than Tamron’s DC motors used in other lenses. It also has Vibration control (VC) rated to 5 stops, and a minimum focusing distance of 0.45m across the entire range of the lens for even more versatility.
The lens will be available in Nikon and Canon mounts later this spring at $1149.99.
