Panasonic S1H to Get RAW Footage Firmware Update

  By Kaitlyn Kerr

Panasonic has announced that they are developing a new firmware update for the recently announced S1H video-centric full-frame mirrorless camera. This firmware update, developed in partnership with Atomos, will allow users to record maximum 5.9K/29.97p RAW footage (as well as C4K/59.94p) to the Atomos Ninja V Recorder over HDMI.

The firmware update is expected to be released in early 2020, and the ability to record Apple ProRes RAW will be a welcome feature for video users.

The S1H was fully announced at the end of August and is expected to begin shipping this fall. It is a capable video camera, with the ability to record 6K/30p internally (4:2:0 10-bit for an unlimited time) and many other useful features for videographers. The camera is available now for preorder now at a price of $5399.99.
