Panasonic Releases New Firmware for GH5, GH5s, G9

Panasonic has released a new firmware update for the GH5 and GH5s. The most significant improvement to the camera’s performance is in the continuous autofocus mode, for both stills and video. Previously, there was some disappointment with how well the camera tracked a subject continuously – particularly if you wanted it to use the full autofocus area and not a single point. The focus would frequently jump to the background.
The update dramatically improves this, minimizing the back focusing issue while using all 225 autofocus points in continuous mode and video. Other improvements, like image quality while using V-log for VFR recording or Intelligent Dynamic Range Control on the GH5s, have also been added.
A new firmware update for the G9 is also available, which also improves the continuous autofocus and minimizes back focusing.
