Jordan Drake Won an AMPIA Award

The 42nd Alberta Film & Television Awards were held at the Hyatt Regency in Calgary on May 7. Over 650 guests attended The Rosies Gala to honour the very best of Alberta’s production in the screen industry.

The majority of this year’s Rosie winners were first-time nominees in their categories,  including The Camera Store’s Jordan Drake who won BEST CINEMATOGRAPHER (DRAMA UNDER 30 MINUTES) for his work on Metanoia by Leftside Pictures which was directed by Levi Holwell.

Another Way of Telling and Art Photography

I waited for a re-print Another Way of Telling the last few months, and when it came in last week I bought it, and read it enthusiastically. Jean Mohr’s photography is great, especially the last section of the book, taken mostly of peasants in the Haute-Savoie region of Eastern France. The photos reminded me that the best of what occurs in art, and in life, is like what Guido de Bres wrote, “For it is before our eyes as a most beautiful Book”.
