Nikon Announces New 85mm F1.8S for Z-System

  By Kaitlyn Kerr

Nikon has announced the latest lens in their Z Mirrorless System – the Nikkor 85mm F1.8S, perfect for portrait and wedding photographers. The lens is reasonably compact and weighs approximately one pound, is splash and dust resistant for shooting in all conditions, and provides sharp images and beautiful natural bokeh.

The Z 85mm F1.8S features 12 elements in 8 groups and 9 rounded aperture blades for smooth, beautiful bokeh. A custom control ring allows the user to adjust aperture or exposure compensation seamlessly. Nikon has also built the lens with video users in mind, including an ultra-quiet focus motor and minimized focus breathing. The lens is also compatible with the eye-detect autofocus that was implemented via firmware update into the Z6 and Z7 earlier this year.

The lens is available for preorder and will begin shipping in September of this year at a price of $1049.
