Jordan Drake Won an AMPIA Award

  By Evelyn Drake

Over 650 guests attended The Rosies Gala at the Hyatt Regency in Calgary on May 7th to honour the very best of Alberta’s production in the screen industry for the 42nd Alberta Film & Television Awards.

The majority of this year’s Rosie winners were first-time nominees in their categories,  including The Camera Store’s Jordan Drake, who won BEST CINEMATOGRAPHER (DRAMA UNDER 30 MINUTES) for his work on Metanoia, by Leftside Pictures, directed by Levi Holwell.

Jordan was surprised and honoured that he was nominated for this award, and was astonished when his name was called up as the winner. He thanked the amazing volunteer-based crew that worked on the film, his family for supporting him, and gave a huge thank you to director Levi Holwell, for giving him the opportunity to work on the project. “Levi is an incredibly gifted filmmaker, and having a director with such a unique visual sense opening my eyes to what is possible for a small low-budget production. I can’t wait to work with him again on his next film.”

The film was shot on Sony FS7 and A7S cameras. The Camera Store’s owners provided a variety of equipment for the shoot, and many of our staff and clients helped with production including Mark Langridge, Nicole Parker, Ryan HK, Kelly Mandeville, and Jordan Herdman.

Metanoia has been submitted to a variety of film festivals and will hopefully premiere in Calgary in the fall of 2016. If you would like to be notified about future events and screenings of the film.
