The International Open Call 2020 and the 2020 Emerging Photographers Showcase, both hosted by the Exposure Photography Festival, are now open for submissions. The Exposure Photography Festival is driven by providing an opportunity for people to communally engage in photographic image making, regardless of their experience and relation to photography. It is an open opportunity for individuals of all types of photographic diversity, from beginners to professionals, encompassing all ages and interest levels, to express themselves and come together with the common thread of photographic expression. Submit your work and join the movement that aims to bring forth education, inspiration and beauty, that will be shared with thousands of people. 

The International Open Call 2020

The International Open Call is welcome to individuals all over the world who seek to express a 2D visual story of their choosing, with their work being viewed by this years International Open Call Juror, Travis Cole (Executive Director of Paved Arts, Managing Editor of BlackFlash Magazine), as well as the award selection committees and Exposure team. Applicants will also have the opportunity to be featured on the Exposure Photography Festival curated Instagram account as examples of strong applications and to promote the open call. 

Successful International Open Call applicants will also have their work to be exhibited in the Exposure Festival group exhibition in Calgary, Alberta, as part of the 2020 programme, receive an artist fee of $115 CAD (in accordance with CARFAC guidelines) and be featured on the Exposure Photography Festival website reaching audiences worldwide. 

The Emerging Photographers Showcase Open Call 2020

The Emerging Photographers Showcase Open Call is welcome to individuals who reside in Alberta, of any age, who have mastered the basic techniques of their art form through education or apprenticeship and are in the early years of launching a professional career. As such with the International Open Call, applicants are open to submit a photographic story of their choosing, which will be viewed by merging Photographers Showcase Open Call Juror, Joanne Marion (Director/Curator of Exhibitions and Collections of Esplanade Arts and Heritage Centre),the award selection committees and Exposure team. They will also have the opportunity to be featured on the Exposure Photography Festival curated Instagram account as examples of strong applications and to promote the open call. 

Successful Emerging Photographers Showcase applicants will have their work exhibited in the Exposure Festival group exhibition in Calgary, Alberta as part of the 2020 programme. They will also have their selected exhibition work printed and framed and free of charge by our Exhibition Presenting Sponsor, Resolve Photo, receive an artist fee of $115 CAD (in accordance with CARFAC guidelines) and be featured (name and website link) on the Exposure Photography Festival website reaching audiences worldwide. In addition, the top three applicants will be awarded one of the following: Exposure 2020 Emerging Photographer of the Year Award (First Prize), Exposure Festival’s Emerging Photographers Showcase Award, or GRAIN Emerging Photographer Award.
