Deity Microphones – Questionable Pizza Choices, Exceptional Microphones

 By Mark Langridge

Deity may be a new audio company, but their microphones, such as the S-Mic and the V-Mic D2 have been around for a while under their parent company, Aputure. With the success of the S-Mic shotgun microphone, the folks at Deity decided they needed to spread their wings as a separate brand so they could dedicate themselves to the further development of exceptional professional audio equipment.

Lightweight and Versatile: Sirui Tripods

 By Kaitlyn Kerr

It’s nice to have a tripod that is both versatile and lightweight. Even if you’re not constantly trekking up mountains or rolling the dice with air travel restrictions, it’s nice to just not have to carry so much stuff. Unfortunately, such “premium” ideals too often come with a premium price tag. The words “carbon fibre” have a particular way of conjuring up cartoon dollar signs flashing around my head to the sound of a cash register chiming.

Book Review: Shape of Light

 By John Veldhoen

Distributed Arts Publishing has a new catalog called “Shape of Light” corresponding to an exhibition of photography, still taking place as I write this at the Tate Museum, in London. The point I want to make is communication relies on abstraction, regardless of considering how language works. And there is nothing to be afraid of.

Shooting with the Sigma Art Series

Best of all, it can come to the beach with you and if it gets in the sand, no problem. Just rinse it off.

It’s awesome that nowadays, pretty much everyone has a camera in their pockets. It’s awesome that we can share those photos too, but sometimes it’s nice to have a physical copy. The Fujifim Instax lineup is awesome – just like old polaroids – and lets you shoot to instant prints in different formats, or print instantly from your phone.

A Long-term Review of the Yongnuo YN-622C

 By Danny Luong

About six years ago I bought a set of Yongnuo 622C Wireless ETTL Flash Triggers, and these are some of my thoughts about how they’ve held up through years of professional use in a variety of settings, and some tangents on gear that is made in China.

Delkin Black: Rugged and Ready to Go

 By Kaitlyn Kerr

I’ve never been one to be gentle on my gear. Sometimes it’s in pursuit of “the shot,” sometimes it’s just pure clumsiness. I’ve slid down muddy mountains, dunked my gear in rivers, dodged spilled drinks at  bar shows. I’ve knocked lenses to the floor and put pocketed memory cards through the washing machine countless times. I need my gear to keep up. With digital photography, ensuring that your files are safe is a top priority, and that starts with a dependable memory card. Delkin Black cards are incredibly rugged, and fast enough to keep up with the ever-increasing demands of today’s cameras.
