Born in South Africa, Simon grew up between a big metropolitan city and a cattle farm in Kwazulu Natal. His love for nature and the natural world grew with him, coupled with a keen interest in photography and his creative spirit, a career and a lifelong passion was born. He has spent the last 14 years in North America, but returned often to his continent of birth to quench his thirst for Africa and it’s wildlife. Eventually the call of the wild became too strong and Simon said farewell to the world of editorial and commercial photography for good to focus his photography on the natural world.

It is true there may be many filters that are no longer necessary with the advent of digital photography, and the array of digital filters that come along with it, but there are still a few filters that no computer can replicate. But, what isn’t endless is the amount of time that you have to spend here photographing them.
Photographers, more than any other profession, have to MacGyver stuff all the time. We use light to create lasting memories. Unfortunately, light isn’t always where we want it. So we have to first, create reflectors, lighting props, brackets, stands, etc. Once the light is where we want it to be and of the right quality, then we can proceed to create history.
