Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta needs your help! They organize dozens of events throughout the year, small and large, and they just don’t have enough photographers to shoot them all.
Most of the events involve teams of enthusiastic fundraisers working together to build homes. The participants like to get a mix of candid photos and portrait-style shots of themselves working along with photos of their small team units and at least one full group shot. Volunteer photographers who have participated in these events find that they can shoot an event from 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM and have the photos finished in the evening.
Aside from providing a great service to a local charity, this is a great opportunity to build your portfolio. The build sites provide a very interesting background for your photos and the participants love to pose and will work with you to set up certain shots. Food is almost always provided.

Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta is a non-profit organization working toward a world where everyone has a safe, affordable place to live. Our mission is to mobilize volunteers and community partners in building affordable housing and promoting homeownership as a means of breaking the cycle of poverty.
Our homeownership model empowers families by providing a hand-up, not a hand-out. Through volunteer labour and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates safe, affordable houses alongside partner families. Habitat homes are sold to partner families with no down-payment, no-interest mortgages. The monthly mortgage payments go into a revolving fund, which is used to build more homes for more families.
Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta was established in 1990 and consists of Chapters from Calgary, Medicine Hat, Brooks District, Foothills and Mountain View County. To date, we have served more than 250 families.
