With so many people upgrading to the Canon EOS R5, R6, R and RP, one of the biggest questions right now is “how well will my DSLR EF lenses work on my new mirrorless EOS R series camera?“. The answer is, perfectly! With a Canon EF to RF adaptor, you can use your RF lenses seamlessly with your EOS R camera.
There are a few options when it comes to RF adaptors. The Canon Mount Adapter EF-EOS R is the most budget-friendly adaptor. At $129.99 this adaptor is lightweight, compact and easy to attach. A perfect option if you just want a simple adaptor to attach your lenses.
If you’re looking for something with a bit more customization, there is the Canon Control Ring Mount Adapter EF-EOS R. A bit pricier at $259.99, this adaptor allows you to attach any EF or EF-S lens to your EOS R camera without losing the control ring you’d have with an RF lens.
Next is the Canon Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter EF-EOS R With Circular Polarizer, at $379.87. Instead of having a control ring, this adaptor has a drop-in filter for a circular polarizing filter. This gives you the ability to utilize a circular polarizing filter without having to purchase multiples to fit various lens diameters.
Finally, there is the Canon Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter EF-EOS R With Variable ND A, at $499.87. Similar to the previous adaptor, this adaptor has a drop-in filter, but for a variable ND filter. This too makes it so you don’t have to buy a bunch of filters to fit your different lenses. This also gives you the ability to use an ND filter on lenses that don’t have front filter threads.
Regardless of which adaptor you choose, they will work marvellously with your EF lenses and mirrorless R body! For a quick look at how well Canon’s EF to RF adaptors work, check out Dave’s short review below!
